Quick Tips
Dos & Don'ts to advance your job search
  • Assess how well you answered the interview questions.
  • Assess your deportment including body language, eye contact and handshake.
  • Don't be hard on yourself - it's all a learning experience.
  • Don't forget to "check in” with yourself regularly during your job search.

Follow up with yourself
An excellent opportunity to do a thorough self-analysis is after the interview. Use the Interview Scorecard Worksheet to assess how well you did on various elements of the interview and to note areas for practice or improvement. If you think it went well, what made it a success? What would you improve, given the chance? If you feel like you could have performed much better, use it as a key learning opportunity. How could you have prepared differently? Also make sure to follow up with yourself regularly throughout the entire job search process.

My Coaching
Get an edge over the competition
Maintaining a positive attitude is important at every stage of your job search, We reiterate it here because whether you're checking in with yourself or your mentors, following up with the employer, or simply waiting for the next step, a good attitude will fortify your resolve and keep you focused on your goal. Once negative thoughts start creeping into your psyche, it's easy for them to get out of control and derail your job search efforts. So, remind yourself every day to check your attitude. If you feel it slipping, talk yourself out of it - or if you can't seem to do it yourself, reach out to someone else for an attitude boost.
